Sexart World aims to replace the outdated terminology of ‘porn’ and ‘pornography’ with a new description that emphasises the artistic aspects of the erotic arts.
Porn refers to, in pictures, writing, film or virtual reality, the explicit depiction of sexual subjects or activity in a manner intended to arouse, and yet certain sections of society deem pornography to be obscene. The word ‘porn’ originally stems from the Ancient Greek word ‘pornographos‘; the depiction of prostitutes and ‘porneion’; a brothel.
Porn is an outdated word both due to its stigma and etymology. A sex tape depicting sexual activity in neither a brothel, or using prostitutes is not obscene but a piece of art. Therefore we propose a new word to help wipe clear the taboo and emphasise the artistic aspects of adult entertainment. The word is ‘sexart’.

Apple don’t want anything to do with porn. Playboy don’t see themselves as pornographers. Some investors can’t invest in porn. In the future there will be no porn, only low and high grade sexart. How long before a Sexart World ‘sexhibition’ at the New York Sex Museum appears in the London Tate Modern? Is this a proposal for the next version of Hugh Hefner or Larry Flynt?
Whilst the 1990’s gave the world Madonna’s ‘Erotica’ album and the accompanying coffee table book ‘Sex’, the 2000’s were the decade of ‘glamour girls’ fueled by lad and ladette culture and a swathe of men’s magazines such as FHM, Nuts, and Zoo. Jordan and Jodie Marsh led the way but beyond a series of oiled-up babes in bikinis and high heels that fed the need to see boobs there wasn’t much else. The 2010/20’s OnlyFans trend hasn’t given any identity to its pornstars/sexartists.
Sexart fulfills the male and female desire to see sexualised imagery but its emphasis is on the ‘art’ and artistic qualities of the work, whether it be the stylised photography of Helmut Newton or the current trend for cosplay. Sex sells, so of course sexart inherently will catch the public’s attention, but it is not yet fully defined. Personally I believe a new era deserves a new approach and style. It’s time for you to define what the Super Sexartists and Sexart World could be.

Now I have convinced you sexart is a perfectly obvious idea (that is yet to exist in the English language) what does it mean? Is it a new umbrella term for the adult industries of porn, glamour, fashion nudes and all forms of soft and hardcore pornography allowing new investment into this newly defined sexart world? Or is it a new genre of pornography with higher production values emphasizing the artist aspects whilst accommodating growing trends such as adult cosplay and body-art? Or is it both? What will you decide?
